I am a second-generation Kenyan, born in Nairobi, and raised in a family where art was a way of life. My great-grandfather was an artist and illustrator, and my father an accomplished oil painter. From an early age, I was surrounded by creativity and began painting alongside my father as soon as I could hold a brush.
Growing up in Kenya and spending time immersed in the wilderness shaped my naturalist’s eye and deepened my love for animals—both of which continue to inform my work. I later studied fine art and graphic design at the Norwich School of Art in England, majoring in graphic design. This led to a rewarding career in the graphic arts. After moving to the United States, I furthered my studies at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC, focusing on computer design and silk screen printing.
Today, I work primarily in watercolor, occasionally incorporating graphite into my pieces. My work is deeply influenced by my African roots, capturing the richness of its wildlife and landscapes. Now based in Tucson, Arizona, I find endless inspiration in the vast skies, earthy palette, and open spaces of the American Southwest.
